Li Qinyang is a Chinese cross-media artist based in Shanghai. She received her BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (2021) and her MA from the Royal College of Art (2024).
Her practice centers on cross-media installations that explore the gap between the essential meaning and emotional resonance of images and everyday objects. Through patterns, archival images, and reconfigured ready-made items, she transforms and recombines materials across two and three dimensions.
Her works embody visual tension and subtle contradiction, inviting viewers to sense an underlying disquiet through close observation. She responds gently to the nonlinear nature of memory while examining the complexities of distance and intimacy. By highlighting the coexistence of calm and latent tension, she connects personal experience to wider social structures, reflecting the idea that "the personal is political."
