Press Releae

The Arch Gallery is honored to announce the opening of artist Hu Longxiang's solo project on November 2nd in the Project Space. Since August of this year, ARCH PROJECT has presented the prelude to the personal project of young artist Hu Longxiang, titled "A Priori Folklore Studies." As an introduction to the entire project, we first exhibit the initial case within the series—the prelude work "Fungus Gill Mechanism I"—which visually translates the process of detecting traditional Chinese medicinal herbs through spectroscopy. By applying the concept of a priori to traditional folklore research methods, this project emphasizes reinterpretation from an a priori perspective, shifting the study of folklore from the realm of empirical knowledge to that of a priori practice. The exhibition features five works that present the use and production process of Chinese medicinal materials, and from a design perspective, these works are imbued with practical home functionality attributes. They are presented in the form of reconstructed living scenes within the exhibition hall.
