Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2009, earned a Master of Fine Arts from Hunan Normal University in 2013, and completed studies at the Advanced Training Program of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2015. She currently works and lives in Changsha.
Chen Mutian's distinctive artistic language and creative inspirations originate from the silk manuscripts unearthed in Mawangdui, Changsha. Employing oil painting, various textile materials, mixed media, new media, and installations, the artist explores a unique mode of thinking and communication. Her aim is to construct an inner landscape filled with wonder and fantasy—an escape for people in real life from worldly troubles.
